The Boston Red Sox have had a somewhat successful offseason, but not to the degree fans wanted. However, according to MLB Network’s Dan O’Dowd, the Red Sox have had the second-most successful offseason this season, behind the Cincinnati Reds. The L.A. Dodgers were not included in this list due to how ridiculous their offseason was.
So far this offseason, the best thing the Sox have done was traded for a superstar ace in Garrett Crochet, which they definitely needed after trading away Chris Sale. They also got another veteran starter who’s proven to be great in Walker Buehler.
The final major thing the Sox have done this offseason was acquire veteran lefty closer Aroldis Chapman, who is getting up there in age, but still hasn’t lost a step when it comes to ability.
So does the Red Sox offseason deserve to be ranked second? Not necessarily. The Sox front office promised a legendary offseason, and so far they’ve been outspent by the Athletics, who are notorious for being miserly.
If the Sox can land a right-handed superstar and another late game reliever, then they would definitely earn their spot, and can even argue for the number one spot.
