Insider reveals major non-Aaron Rodgers Steelers quarterback update image

It's now May 1, and the Pittsburgh Steelers still don't have a franchise quarterback on their roster. It's a bit questionable what the Steelers are doing, but the plan seems to be to add Aaron Rodgers and hope things work out.

Even if Rodgers only plays one more year, the Steelers would have a chance to at least compete in the playoffs, something that hasn't been said about this team over the past few years.

While the Steelers have always made the playoffs, and it's a reflection of Mike Tomlin's excellent coaching, they haven't exactly found success when it matters most.

Adding Rodgers could change that, but it's important to remember that he likely won't play for more than a year or two.

The Steelers would still have quarterback questions, but according to a recent report from Mark Kaboly of “The Pat McAfee Show,” the team is interested in being all-in on finding a franchise quarterback during the 2026 NFL draft.

“I do believe they will be all in, but the right guy would have to be there. There are a lot of variables associated with your question, with the biggest one being how far they would have to move up. Look at what the Jags gave up moving from fifth overall to second last week to grab Travis Hunter – basically a first-round pick next year and the 36th overall this year. That’s to move three spots,” he wrote.

Arch Manning, Drew Allar, and other elite quarterbacks will be available for the Steelers to take, depending on how things fall.

If the Steelers' plan is to tank the year and get the first overall pick, somebody like Manning would be a potential addition.

If the Steelers continue to compete like they have over the past decade-plus, they'll likely have to live with someone else.
