Anthony Edwards played in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ regular-season finale against the Utah Jazz after the NBA rescinded his technical foul from the Brooklyn Nets blowout victory.
Veteran guard Dennis Schroder was not a fan of the grace shown to the Timberwolves star. He tweeted his frustration with the repeal Sunday.
“LOVE TO COMPETE AGAINST THIS GUY!!! BUT @NBA THIS IS INSANE!! IF THIS WOULD BE STEW, ME, OR DILLON BROOKS, WE WOULD BE SUSPENDED,” Schroder tweeted.
To Schroder's point, he, Isaiah Stewart, and Dillon Brooks have had their fair share of ejections throughout their careers. However, many of them have been self-inflicted, neutralizing Schroder's argument. Brooks and Stewart have made names for themselves, attracting negative attention and wreaking havoc.
Edwards capitalized on his suspension termination with a 43-point performance over the Utah Jazz Sunday afternoon. With this victory, the Timberwolves avoid the play-in tournament as the sixth seed in the Western Conference. Edwards is averaging a career-high 27.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. Minnesota faces the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round, opening up as 4.5-point underdogs against the Finals contenders.
Meanwhile, Schroder and the Detroit Pistons open against the New York Knicks, trying to capitalize on their best season since 2019. Detroit is looking for its first playoff victory since 2008. Schroder is averaging 10.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 5.3 assists.
