The San Francisco 49ers have already reached an extension with George Kittle, but are still working toward an extension with their quarterback, Brock Purdy.
Kittle signed a four-year, $76 million extension with the 49ers. Now, all the attention is on Purdy and his contract. He is set to become one of the highest-paid players in the league. Purdy was present at the team's voluntary portion of the offseason program. According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, that indicates there will not be a holdout as the offseason goes along, and a deal is close.
"The sense I'm getting is they're closer than what we think," Russini said on her podcast. "I don't believe Brock Purdy shows up (to OTAs) if he doesn't feel good that they're near a number that he's happy with. That's how it usually works with players. Very rarely are guys showing up if they're that far apart. It just doesn't work like that.
"So to me, just that action alone tells me that they're closer, but also doing some digging on it. I think this is still moving in a really good direction. I don't think there should be any concern."
The next phase of the 49ers' offseason program begins on May 27. Russini believes that the fact he was present in Phase 1 indicates that he knows a deal will get done. The 49ers are no strangers to holdouts, but they do not seem to be heading in that direction with Purdy. Recently, the 49ers went through a lengthy holdout with Brandon Aiyuk.

Purdy's next deal will make him the highest-paid player in franchise history. Sports Illustrated's Grant Cohn believes a deal will be done before training camp in July.
"Russini most likely is correct. I'm guessing this extension will get done right before training camp in July," wrote Cohn. "That's when quarterbacks generally sign extensions."
