After losing the Premier League title to Liverpool this season, Manchester City will look to bring in reinforcements in the summer transfer window to bring back the trophy to Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola will spearhead the rebuild as they aim to regain their lost glory. They had already signed four major players in the January window. They added players like Abdukodir Khusanov, Omar Marmoush, Nico Gonzalez and Vitor Reis to their roster.

Amidst all the incoming players, club legend Kevin de Bruyne is all set to leave the club at the end of the season after the team management decided not to hand the Belgian a new contract.

Initial reports suggested that Guardiola was not looking at someone who could replace De Bruyne. But now transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported City's progress in pursuing Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White.

While City are genuinely interested in Gibbs-White, Forest are in no mood to let go of their club captain, especially after his exceptional performance this season.

He has been an integral part of Nottingham Forest's rise in the Premier League under manager Nuno Espirito Santo. The attacking midfielder is also contracted with the Tricky Trees till 2027, so Forest can bargain a massive deal for the 25-year-old midfielder.

Will Gibbs-White move to Manchester City?

The English attacking midfielder has been a standout player for Forest, who have been the biggest surprise of this season. Nuno's men are on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League. So they have more initiative to keep hold of their star player.

Gibbs-White is a dynamic midfielder who, apart from doing his primary offensive and creative duties, can also win second balls. He is extremely combative which has fascinated Guardiola and the Man City team management.

He has scored five goals and provided seven assists in 30 Premier League matches this season. As per FBref, he has registered 101 scoring chance assists (SCA) and 17 goal-creating actions (GCA).

The Englishman certainly has the quality and fits the profile that Guardiola is looking for in midfield. It may well be a tough deal to crack for City, and it revolves around Nottingham Forest's Champions League qualification.

As per reports, Forest have no obligation or requirement to sell the 25-year-old. So they may ask for a transfer fee in the region of £100 million. It remains to be seen if City can negotiate and bring that asking price down, or they decide to break the bank for the midfielder.
