After losing Game 2, the Minnesota Timberwolves are now tied with the Los Angeles Lakers in their playoff series at one game apiece. Now the series heads back to Minnesota with homecourt advantage.
Despite the loss, Lakers alum Lou Williams explained on “Run It Back” why he thinks the Timberwolves shouldn’t be too concerned going forward.
“They should be confident. They didn’t play their best basketball. Game 2 was one of those games where they got with some… foul trouble, and it kind of messed up their rotations and their lineups,” Williams said.
Williams explained further why he believes the Timberwolves’ identity is why they’re not in trouble in this series.
“You have a grind-it-out game,” Williams said. “When you look at the identity of this team, we talk about their physicality, their toughness. Those are the teams that usually win grind-it-out games. So if I’m them, we didn’t play our best night last night, and we we already got one. You can take your foot off the gas sometimes when you steal Game 1. You don’t have the same urgency in Game 2 as you did.”
Williams concluded by explaining that, given the series' progress so far, the Timberwolves have nothing to complain about.

“So, going back home, 1-1, having the opportunity to be on your home floor and all of those things, you’ve got to feel confidently about how you’re playing and the way that you’re going about this series if you’re (Anthony Edwards) and the Minnesota Timberwolves, especially with the next two in your building.”
Williams signed with the Lakers in 2015 and played there for a season and a half until the Lakers traded him to the Houston Rockets. Throughout his career, he won three Sixth Man of the Year awards in 2015, 2018, and 2019.
