The Detroit Lions have had a busy offseason.
After falling short in the playoffs once again in 2024, the team got busy in free agency making improvements. One player brought in was talented cornerback D.J. Reed, who should fill in the role that Carlton Davis was in before bolting for the New England Patriots.
The team also made some solid depth signings, including defensive lineman Roy Lopez and defensive backs Avonte Maddox and Rock Ya-Sin.
Then, in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Lions selected seven players, starting with defensive tackle Tyleik Williams. Second-round pick Tate Ratledge could end up starting at one of the guard spots, as well.
With most of the players in the building following the draft, the Lions' social media team decided to get the guys' opinions on a trending internet topic.
If you haven't seen, the idea of who would win a fight between one gorilla and 100 men has taken the internet by storm. Several Lions were asked to weigh on in.
"I mean, the obvious answer is a hundred humans," said linebacker Trevor Nowaske.
However, several players disagreed with that assessment.
"One gorilla," said offensive lineman Colby Sorsdal. "No shot."
"I think it's the gorilla," defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike weighed in. "It's the gorilla, bruh."
"I'm going to go with the gorilla," said long snapper Hogan Hatten. "I don't think humans... bare-hand humans are gonna... I just don't see it happening."
Offensive lineman Giovanni Manu needed clarification before answering. Manu wanted to know if it was 100 humans all at once, or one human at a time. The lineman was told it was all 100 humans at once.
"Yeah, at once, we're killing 'em," said Manu. "Put me at the front line."
To be fair, Manu may be one of the best possible humans to have on your side in a fight against a gorilla. Manu stands at 6-foot-7 and weighs around 352 pounds.
Overall, the linemen on both sides of the ball tended to think the humans would win, and the skill position players seemed to think the gorilla would win.
