The weekend softball schedule features a top-five blockbuster between the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners and the No. 5 Texas Longhorns. Oklahoma is sitting atop the Big 12 standings at 12-0, while Texas is tied for second with a 9-3 conference record.
The Sooners are coming off a three-game sweep against Kansas in which they outscored the Jayhawks, 30-4. They were particularly dominant in the second game of the series, pummeling Kansas in a 17-0 run-rule victory.
Texas most recently traveled to Oklahoma State, where it went 1-2 against the Cowgirls. After losing the first game, the Longhorns earned a 2-1 win behind a strong performance on the mound from Citlaly Gutierrez. They then dropped the final game of the series.
