New Juan Soto reports are good news for the Red Sox's pursuit image

A month into the MLB offseason, there are plenty of moves still to come, but it seems like everyone is waiting for free agent outfielder Juan Soto to find his new home before other moves follow.

The Boston Red Sox are heavily involved in the Soto sweepstake, as they were one of a handful of teams to meet with the four-time All-Star and his representation in California earlier this month.

In fact, according to a recent report from USA Today's Bob Nightengale, the Red Sox are just one of four teams considered serious contenders for Soto's services this offseason.

It appears Boston will be battling the New York Yankees, New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays for the 2019 World Series champion. That's two of the biggest spenders in baseball and another team in the American League that's desperate to make a splash.

ESPN's Buster Olney reported on Sunday that teams are expected to send over their offers for Soto later this week, so the Red Sox will really have to dig deep in their pockets if they want to beat out the other teams involved.

So, while this doesn't make it much more likely that Boston lands one of the best players in the sport in the coming weeks, it's good to know they won't have to battle other big spenders like the Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies or Texas Rangers.
