The Milwaukee Bucks seem to be fully healthy now that Damian Lillard has returned, but there is something else they need to address after the playoffs in the offseason: their aging roster. They need to get younger, or else their superstar in his prime in Giannis Antetokounmpo is going to leave.
Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus has a surprising prediction for the Bucks that could give them favor with Antetokounmpo; landing Charlotte Hornets star center Mark Williams.
“The Milwaukee Bucks, whose starting center, Brook Lopez, just turned 37 and is set to become a free agent this summer, may jump at the chance at acquiring Williams (even with the durability risk the Lakers rejected).” Pincus wrote.
Pincus continued, stating the Bucks could have multiple ways of acquiring Williams, whether they trade for him now, or wait until he becomes a restricted free agent.
“Williams is eligible for an extension before the 2025-26 regular season starts,” Pincus noted. “The Bucks could negotiate a deal or make him wait until he becomes a restricted free agent next July. Milwaukee could move the expiring contracts of Bobby Portis ($13.4 million) or Pat Connaughton ($9.4 million) for Williams if either one picks up their respective player options.”
Williams is only 23 years old, and if he can work with the medical staff that brought Lillard back in record time, he might be an amazing pickup for the Bucks. Hopefully, they target him this offseason and get someone to hold down the middle for years to come.
