With the Milwaukee Bucks’ season ending due to a last second overtime buzzer-beater by the Indiana Pacers last night, people are wondering what Bucks’ star Giannis Antetokounmpo will do. The consensus is that he will request a trade, but there are many places he could go.
NBA Legend Carmelo Anthony weighed in, and made a weird yet understandable statement on where Antetokounmpo should go: a rebuilding team. Anthony made it clear he has no idea where Antetokounmpo could go, and he doesn’t see Antetokounmpo being the Greek Freak on a team with an already established superstar.
“Where? Where is he gonna go? Like what is his fit? You ain’t just going from leading and having the ball in your hands and scoring 50, to going to having a singular role,” Anthony stated. “Whoever gets him, you bring him there, for that, for what we’re seeing from Milwaukee.”
That’s where the rebuilding team comes in, as they can build around Antetokounmpo instead of just trading for him, which Anthony emphasized.
“I don’t think no place is a destination for him, he gotta get people to him…you build around that…Me understanding Giannis mentality, he wanna win. So he not gonna go to no losing situation, but a rebuild,” Anthony said.
The more you think about Anthony’s point, the more it makes sense. Giannis is a 1a player. He’s not a sidekick, nor should he be considered one when traded. He needs to be THE star, or at least on a team that has only one superstar and a mediocre supporting cast.

Teams that would definitely fit Anthony’s rebuild idea could include the Miami Heat, the Houston Rockets, or the San Antonio Spurs. If any of those teams call and ask about Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee should answer.
