The world's best male triathletes will descend upon Kona, Hawaii for the Ironman World Championship on Sunday. 

The athletes will set out to conquer a 140.6-mile quest, which takes them on a 2.4-mile swim in the Kailua Bay, to a 112-mile bike ride through the iconic Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway and a 26.2-mile run to the HOST Park at the Natural Energy Laboratory Hawai`i Authority (NELHA).

Sam Laidlow, Patrick Lange, and Magnus Ditlev, who finished on the podium last year in Nice, are once again are likely to contend for the top spots. Norwegian duo Kristian Blummenfelt and Gustav Iden, who won the World Championship in 2021 and 2022 respectively, are also top contenders.

While the odds aren't completely in their favour USA's Matthew Marquardt, Trevor Foley and Rudy von Berg could be surprise candidates for the top spots.

What time is the Ironman World Championship?

  • Time: 12:25 p.m. ET

The 2024 Ironman World Championship from Kona will start at 12:25 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 26. The athletes will begin with a 2.4-mile swim course, followed by a 112-mile bike course and end with a 26.2-mile race.
