Jayson Tatum's mother loves him. There's no blaming her for her protective instincts.

But it did catch the eye on social media after the Celtics' Game 1 win over the Magic. Brandy Tatum was caught on video in the tunnel asking Jayson, "Want me to go to the Orlando locker room?"

Tatum had been hurt during the game on a dunk attempt. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope committed a hard foul, and Tatum came down hard on his wrist.

The play was eventually upgraded to a Flagrant 1 foul.

After the game, Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said of Tatum: "He's good."

The Magic are one of the NBA's best defensive teams, and they do it in part by being physical.

A superstar like Tatum is always going to be bumped around. Just in the photo at the top of this story, Franz Wagner is practically bear-hugging Tatum on a drive to the basket.

It's the nature of doing business as a dominant wing in the NBA, even in this modern era, especially in the playoffs.

No one blames Tatum's mom for wanting to come to his defenses.

But given the Game 1 win and Tatum's overall talent, it's safe to say he can fight his own battles with his play on the court.
