With a disappointing season in the rearview for the Philadelphia 76ers, this offseason could be filled with many transactions. Trade rumors surrounded Joel Embiid and Paul George for a couple of months this season. This offseason, a deal could be made to move them, or they could add another star.

Nicolas Kyle Pring of Fansided suggests that a groundbreaking rumor lands New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson in Philadelphia.

"The Pelicans have moved on from the leadership of David Griffin and hired Joe Dumars as their new president of basketball operations. Following the move, there are already rumors about New Orleans making a hard pivot by testing the waters with its franchise player, Zion Williamson. If so, the 76ers should move accordingly and consider making a swap for Williamson," Pring wrote.

If the 76ers were to pursue a trade for Williamson, a trade would more than likely have to include George. It also is hard to imagine New Orleans taking on George's contract if they decide to go in a rebuild. For Philadelphia, the only other route would be to send Tyrese Maxey to the Pelicans to acquire Williamson.

For the same reasons they wouldn't want any part of George's contract, New Orleans would feel the same about acquiring Embiid. They would be move interested in future draft picks, or players like Maxey or Jared McCain. In addition to Embiid and George's bad contracts, they both also have some durability concerns.

With the Pelicans in a position to begin a rebuild, Williamson would be a hot commodity on the trade market. Although he also has his own injury concerns, he is still young enough to turn things around. Philadelphia could become a player in the sweepstakes for Williamson should he become available.
