The Pittsburgh Steelers surprised many by selecting Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon at No. 21 in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Steelers had their choices of quarterbacks with both Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart on the board.
Instead, the Steelers went in another direction and decided to continue to wait on the QB position.
The never-ending Aaron Rodgers pursuit has been at the forefront of the Steelers' minds for some time, especially with very limited QB options on the current roster.
After the first round came to an end, NFL insider Josina Anderson dropped a big update on the Steelers-Rodgers pursuit.
"I'm told the #Steelers communicated with Aaron Rodgers at the beginning of the week that they would like to receive an answer from him before the Draft (at least 48 hours), per league source. Steelers know the outcome of that conversation..."
That's quite the update from Anderson, and there might not be many options left for the Steelers after losing out on Sanders and Dart on Thursday night.
Now, with Sanders falling out of Round 1 altogether, a trade-up is possible although most likely costly. Or, do the Steelers select Alabama QB Jalen Milroe or somebody else?
Moreover, Anderson makes it sound like the Steelers have heard from Rodgers, and not picking Sanders or Dart could suggest that the veteran does intend to wear the black and gold next year.
Either way, it's a classic Rodgers situation: Have the entire world wait for your decision.
