The LA Galaxy look for their MLS-best sixth all-time league title as they host the New York Red Bulls in the 2024 MLS Cup final.

It's been a decade since the Galaxy last won a league championship, currently holding the most of any MLS club with five, yet they're on the precipice of a return to their mantle as the league's most preeminent destination. Behind new signings Joseph Paintsil and Gabriel Pec, the Galaxy will have to complete the charge without Riqui Puig who faces a long absence after tearing his ACL in the Western Conference final.

The Red Bulls, meanwhile, are the opposite boat, hoping to win the club's first-ever MLS championship in their second final appearance.

Emerging from the Eastern Conference bracket as the seventh seed, the Red Bulls triumphed amidst a chaotic postseason that saw the top seeds fall early. They have a tall task on hand beating the second-best team in the Western Conference, but having already taken down the defending champions Columbus Crew, that shouldn't be considered unlikely.

2024 MLS Cup final prediction, betting odds & lines

  • Score prediction: LA Galaxy 2-1 NY Red Bulls

While the LA Galaxy will sorely miss Riqui Puig, they should still manage to overcome his absence in what can only be considered a dream matchup for the Western Conference regular season runners-up.

New York had a great run, but a trip across the country to California coupled with a meeting against a strong unfamiliar opponent should prove to be too much for the underdogs here.

The Red Bulls have been out-shot in every single playoff match thus far, including somehow surviving a 25-goal onslaught against NYCFC in the conference semifinal to emerge with a clean sheet. That's just not a sustainable run, and the Galaxy will be the first team to punish the Red Bulls for their defensive frailties.
