If Augusta National had a cooler, younger cousin with a competitive streak and a drone delivery system, it’d be Michael Jordan’s Grove XXIII.
Nestled in Hobe Sound, Florida, this ultra-exclusive golf retreat was built for the G.O.A.T. himself — with an 18-hole course designed for speed, a sleek cigar-lounge-style clubhouse, and amenities so high-tech they make your local country club look like a putt-putt course.
"Want in? You’ll need to be on MJ’s good side (or his ultra-exclusive invite list) because the only way through the gates of Grove XXIII is with a personal nod from Jordan himself.
According to Black Active Golf, Jordan, who has a handicap of around 1.3, built the $20 million “ultra-exclusive,” golf course to specifically fit his style, “just so he could beat professional golfers” — who call it “the slaughterhouse.”
Named for his iconic No. 23 jersey, Grove XXIII is situated on more than 200 acres of land once home to a citrus grove. Both the course and its 15,000-square-foot clubhouse were built in 2019 and designed a by renowned golf course architect, Bobby Weed.
Cigar Aficionado claims “the amenities at Grove XXIII are like none other” with a cigar-friendly locker room, golf carts that reach speeds of 35 mph (because Jordan abhors slow play) and drones that bring drinks out to players on the course.
For those lucky enough to score an invite, one reviewer called it, “Maybe the best “hang” in golf," while another wrote, “Grove XXIII is all about the experience … The celebrity atmosphere and hang are unique."
Former Indianapolis Colts defensive end, Dwight Freeney said he’s lucky to be one of approximately 100 members of the club, telling Golf Digest that other than “an unofficial just-don’t-be-a-jerk mantra, the club doesn’t have any rules.”
