The Philadelphia Phillies are off to a strong start in 2025. They are 13-11 through their first 24 games, and despite sitting four games behind the first place New York Mets in the National League East, are second in the division.

However, there are some areas that they could look to improve in when the trade deadline comes around.

While the deadline is not until July 31, their biggest weakness right now is third base. Alec Bohm is not off to a very good start.

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado is off to a strong start while the team is struggling. CBS Sports' Dayn Perry proposed the idea of Philadelphia landing the slugger.

"All of this is to say the two factors most essential to keeping the Arenado trade market alive – improved offensive performance on Arenado's part and poor results at the team level for St. Louis – are trending in the necessary directions. It's too speculative to get into trade specifics, but it's worth noting a couple of situations," Perry wrote.

"The Philadelphia Phillies have gotten miserable contributions from third baseman Alec Bohm this season (he takes a .508 OPS into Wednesday's slate), and they're in need of a lineup boost in the tough NL East."

Arenado is hitting .268/.375/.427 with two home runs, 10 RBI, an .802 OPS and a 126 OPS+. The Phillies could significantly upgrade at third base if they acquire him.

His defense is an upgrade over Bohm as well. He's a 10-time Gold Glover and a six-time Platinum Glove winner. Arenado's agent, Joel Wolfe also stated in the offseason that he was looking for a team with "the throttle-down."

The Phillies are an immediate World Series contender, and Arenado would only boost their chances at potentially challenging the Los Angeles Dodgers.

We'll see where things stand at the deadline, but there is a chance he could be traded to Philadelphia at that point.
