The Dallas Cowboys have fortified their trenches on both sides of the ball with their first two picks in the draft.

After taking offensive guard Tyler Booker in the first round, Jerry Jones and company took defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku out of Boston College at pick 44 in the second round.

Ezeirauku may be talented, but Cowboys' fans were clamoring for another offensive weapon to add to Dak Prescott's arsenal.

Even though he might not be the fanbase's number one option, Ezeiruaku could become a force on the Dallas defense.

Who is Donovan Ezeiruaku?

Donovan Ezeiruaku is a 6-foot-2, 248 pound defensive end out of Boston College.

He's one of the best edge rushers in the draft according to experts. NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah predicted that Ezeiruaku would go in the first round to the Cincinnati Bengals, comparing him to Trey Hendrickson.

Instead, the Boston College product fell to the Cowboys in the second round.

Donovan Ezeiruaku's college accolades

Ezeirauku's resume is long for just his senior season.

His final year at Boston College, he was named the ACC defensive player of the year.

He was BC's 13th Consensus All-American with first-team honors from the AP, AFCA and The Sporting News.

He was also honored with the Ted Hendricks Award as college football's best defensive end last season. He tied the program's single season sack record with 16.5, the most in the FBS in the regular season.

The captain at Boston College notched 80 tackles and 20.5 tackles for loss in his senior season.

Where does Donovan Ezeiruaku fit for the Cowboys?

The Cowboys list of edge rushers starts with All-Pro end Micah Parsons. But where does Ezeiruaku fit in?

Dallas signed Dante Fowler Jr., a former Cowboy, from Washington in the offseason. They'll also bring back Marshawn Kneeland after a promising rookie year and Sam Williams, who suffered a season-ending injury in training camp last year.

However, none of these rushers are considered elite at their position. Ezeiruaku will have an opportunity to prove himself and gain more playing time as the season goes on.

One advantage for the rookie is that new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus was not on staff when the other edge rushers were drafted. Eberflus had a say in the selection of Ezeiruaku, so he will be motivated to give the young player room to grow.
