Masters odds and sharp money: Pro bettors fading Tiger Woods at Augusta this week.jpg

The Masters is set to tee off Thursday at Augusta National, but the weather forecast is calling for a 91% chance of rain and heavy thunderstorms.

Any time a big golf tournament -- and they don't get any bigger than The Masters -- rolls around, it's worth consulting SuperBook VP of Risk Management & Oddsmaking Jeff Sherman to check the pulse of professional gamblers in Las Vegas.

Sherman (@golfodds on X) is one of the leading golf handicappers in the U.S., and he sets the odds at the SuperBook. He provided insight on where the money is coming in ahead of the year's first major.

Sharp money against Tiger Woods in multiple markets

Sharp bettors are fading Tiger Woods in two betting markets. Sharps sided with Phil Mickelson (-145) in his tournament matchup versus Woods (+125).

Woods can add yet another record to his resume by making his 24th consecutive cut at The Masters this week. But sharp bettors at the SuperBook hammered his missed cut odds, which are currently at -130. The "Yes" is priced at +110.

One Tiger backer plunked $1,000 on Woods to win at 80-1. Sherman noted that his participation in any major tournament still moves the needle.

"Having Tiger involved always increases betting interest and handle, and his props and matchups tend to see the most activity," Sherman told Sporting News in a text on Tuesday.

SuperBook's biggest 2024 Masters odds movements, liabilities and bets

Scottie Scheffler is the consensus favorite to win The Masters. Scheffler opened at 9-to-1 odds, but he's been bet down to 9-2 at the SuperBook. LIV golfer Joaquin Niemann is attracting lots of attention and money at 30-1 after opening at 125-1.

Wyndham Clark (80-1 to 35-1) and Hideki Matsuyama (50-1 to 18-1) have also seen their odds shorten considerably. Two big names in Justin Thomas (25-1 to 50-1) and Patrick Cantlay (20-1 to 40-1) are trending in the opposite direction.

Sherman said the SuperBook's biggest liabilities include:

  • Xander Schauffele
  • Hideki Matsuyama
  • Will Zalatoris
  • Tiger Woods
  • Phil Mickelson

Two of the larger win bets at the SuperBook have come in on Schauffele ($2,400 at 20-1) and Matsuyama ($1,950 at 50-1).
