Just one day away from the start of the 2025 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos are evaluating all options in front of them with the No. 20 overall pick. According to a recent report from Adam Schefter, that could include trading the pick to move up the board.
Make of that what you will, but if the Broncos are looking to move up, one of the most obvious spots to trade into would be the No. 12 pick held by the Dallas Cowboys. It might be costly in today's NFL to move up eight spots in the first round, but the Broncos could include a player who is often connected to trade talks.
Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton has often been tied to a potential trade to the Cowboys and those rumors have been heating up lately with the draft approaching. However, NFL Network's Jane Slater, who has close ties to the Cowboys, has called it "fake news".
Depending on how the draft falls and Jeanty is gone, if Golden is available at pick 12:

• #Cowboys should trade No. 12 to Broncos for No. 20 & Courtland Sutton
• #Broncos can draft a WR that fits perfectly with Bo Nix and won’t have to pay Sutton
• Cowboys can then draft… pic.twitter.com/DWJ12oxRZI
That all sounds good, particularly if you're a Cowboys fan, but the Broncos would likely want more in return if they throw Sutton into this deal, even if he turns 30 soon.
But that doesn't mean it can't or won't happen, either. Things can change at a moment's notice depending on how the board falls. The Broncos could move into the No. 12 spot if Penn State tight end Tyler Warren were to fall out of the top 10 or if Michigan tight end Colston Loveland is really the player the team has a 'love affair' with, as stated by NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah.
Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan could also be seen as a trade-up option for the Broncos.
In this scenario, the Cowboys would land Sutton and the No. 20 pick in exchange for the No. 12 pick. They could then take the player everyone sees going to the Broncos, North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton. The Cowboys have long had a hole at running back and despite signing former Broncos running back Javonte Williams in free agency this offseason, they need a true No. 1 option.

It would be risky for the Broncos to trade Sutton away considering how young and inexperienced the rest of the wide receiver room is, but this is an example of what it costs to move up in the first round of the draft. If a player like Warren were there, it would probably be worth it.
Getting a team like the Cowboys to agree on what the Broncos see as equal value in a trade back may prove to be too tricky, however.
