The 2024 Washington Commanders (11-5) have been one of the NFL's most well-covered positive stories on the field. Not quite as documented, however, are the relationships they've built off the field.
In that regard, one of the most entertaining developments for Washington has to be the playful bromance between rookie QB Jayden Daniels and veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner.

Daniels and Wagner have begun the new year picking up right where they left off, by trading some lighthearted banter in the media room. During Wagner's availability on Wednesday, Daniels could be heard repeatedly interrupting with friendly wisecracks.
Wagner had evidently been taking his time on an interview, prompting Daniels to chime in "You're still talking?" from across the room. The veteran replied "Yeah, that's what happens when you know how to read."
They continued to trade barbs for about the next 15 seconds, before Wagner turned back to the reporters and self-deprecatingly stated with a smile "This is how we start the new year." Clearly the comments are all in good fun, as Daniels and Wagner have built up a close friendship off the field. They have been seen at multiple Washington Wizards games together this season.
Both Daniels and Wagner have made unmistakably substantial impacts on the Commanders' success on the field this season. Daniels has accounted for 4,394 total yards and 31 touchdowns (25 passing, six rushing) en route to likely being named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, while Wagner has brought valuable leadership to the Commanders' defense. He leads the team in tackles with 124.
It's good to know that the two of them are enjoying themselves off the field just as well as they are on it. If their dynamic is any reflection, the Commanders have a healthy locker room atmosphere -- something that's always a crucial element of a winning culture.
