Browns’ entire plan questioned by experts after Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel draft picks image

The Cleveland Browns have gotten a lot of quizzical responses to their draft picks of Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.

Was Gabriel chosen too early? Did it make sense to take another QB in Sanders? What are the Browns even doing? (To be fair, that's always a good question.)

Two ESPN writers took their turns on Monday as they called the Browns' QB draft picks the most puzzling choices in the entire NFL Draft.

Kalyn Kahler had this to say: "Several scouts and executives I spoke to really started scratching their heads with the Gabriel pick, but the Browns also taking Sanders made even less sense. Neither quarterback has prototypical size for the position, and I'm not seeing the plan on how these two will split reps with Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett in camp."

And then there's this from Jason Reid: "Two developmental rookie QBs with Flacco and Pickett under contract? In camp and the preseason, how will Gabriel and Sanders get enough reps to adjust to the NFL and prove they deserve roster spots? I don't get it."

The questions about reps are totally fair. The Browns won't get a chance to develop their rookies, or see what they're capable of, if they're busy splitting the opportunities up four ways. It also won't help anyone be ready to play in games.

It still feels like one QB has to go before training camp, or at least early in the preseason.

Maybe Flacco or Pickett has a tiny trade value, or they could just be released.

It wouldn't make sense for the Browns to cut Sanders or Gabriel at this point since they were just drafted.

Maybe it'll all make sense down the road, but there's certainly plenty of reason to question it right now.
