Toronto Blue Jays ace Jose Berrios had a problem with Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh on Saturday.
Berrios said that when Raleigh was on second base, he was relaying pitch types back to his hitters.
Raleigh denied the allegations.
"They thought I was relaying," Raleigh told MLB.com postgame. "I wasn't."
Berrios had approached Raleigh at the end of the fourth inning to try and stop what he thought was happening. Both benches cleared at that point.
“I didn’t feel like the benches were going to go out, but between the hitter and I, it’s a war,” Berríos told MLB.com. “I am there by myself and I know that hitters can take advantage of many people. As a pitcher, I can’t let that happen.”

When Raleigh was on second base in the fourth inning, Seattle hitters Rowdy Tellez (strikeout) and Dylan Moore (popout) both made outs.
“I didn't have the pitches,” Raleigh said. “But that's just how it is. I'd want my pitchers doing the same thing if somebody thought they were tipping."
Blue Jays manager John Schneider pointed out afterward that any sign acquisition that occurs naturally on the field of play like this is generally "fair game."
The Blue Jays and Mariners will play once more in Toronto on Sunday to end the series. It'll be worth watching to see if there's any lingering signs of conflict.
