The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in danger of losing Chris Godwin this offseason, as he'll be one of the top receivers available in free agency along with Tee Higgins. Godwin has already been franchise tagged three times, most recently a tag extension worth $60 million over three years signed back in 2022.
With just over $24 million in cap space to work with, Tampa Bay will likely see Godwin walk to another team that will meet his contract demands. If they want to continue having a dominant wide receiver duo, they'll probably have to look towards the draft. That's why Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report listed the Bucs as one of the best fits for Ohio State wideout Emeka Egbuka.
Upon reaching the NFL level, the expectations shouldn't be to start Egbuka as an X-receiver. He probably could be a solid option working outside, though he has a clear and defined role from Day 1. As such, he can be an ideal, effective and complementary piece for multiple NFL offenses looking to flesh out their wider receiver corps.
This sounds like the perfect pairing for the Bucs. Egbuka can be the clear-cut number two alongside Mike Evans while he develops his game. In four years for the Buckeyes, Egbuka caught 184 passes for 2,600 yards and 23 touchdowns. He can play both in the slot and out wide and would give Baker Mayfield another top-tier weapon to throw to.
