The Buffalo Bills may see one less weapon in the San Francisco 49ers’ offense on Sunday.

49ers quarterback Brock Purdy was “extremely limited” at practice on Wednesday, per NFL.com insider Ian Rapaport. Purdy is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Bills.

Purdy missed the 49ers game last week, as they lost 38-10 against the Green Bay Packers. Brandon Allen played in replacement of Purdy, throwing for 199 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Allen’s performance against Green Bay wasn’t horrible, but the offense looked out of sync without Purdy. The 49ers (5-6) are already without Brandon Aiyuk, who is out indefinitely.

Even as a third-year NFL player, Purdy has far more experience than Allen at this level. Purdy has started 32 regular season games for the 49ers, compiling a 22-10 record as a starter.

Buffalo (9-2) has one of the NFL’s better secondaries, sitting in the top half of the league in passing yards and points allowed per game. Without Purdy, a tough matchup would become even tougher for the 49ers.

Sunday’s game between the Bills and 49ers begins at 8:20 p.m. ET.
