All eyes were on Rafael Nadal as the best men's tennis teams this season travelled to Malaga, Spain for the Davis Cup Finals, which began on November 19 at the Palacio Deportes Martin Carpena.

Nadal, a 22-time Grand Slam singles champion ended his illustrious career representing Spain at the Davis Cup Finals. The Spaniard has helped his country win the title five times, the latest coming in 2019.

But, he fell to Botic van de Zandschulp in straight sets as the hosts were eliminated by the Netherlands in the quarterfinal.

The Dutch will now play either Germany in the semifinal.

In the other half of the draw, world No 1 Jannik Sinner will be expected to lead defending champions Italy in their quarterfinal match against Argentina. Record 32-time winners USA lost to 28-time winners Australia in the fourth quarterfinal.

Davis Cup Finals 2024 tennis schedule

The quarterfinals began on Tuesday, November 19 when Spain lost to the Netherlands.

Italy vs. Argentina will take place not before 5:00 p.m. local time on November 21.

The first semifinal will begin at 5:00 p.m. local time on November 22, followed by the second semifinal a day later, beginning at 1:00 p.m. local time.

The final will take place on November 24, starting at 4:00 p.m. local time, which is 10:00 a.m. in the US (ET).
