Do the Golden State Warriors have a real shot at acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo this summer?

Possibly, but the Warriors aren’t the Western Conference team capable of putting together the best offer for the Milwaukee Bucks star.

Here are three trade scenarios sending Antetokounmpo to the Warriors, Houston Rockets, and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Giannis to the Thunder

The Trade

Thunder receive…

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo

Bucks receive…

  • Jalen Williams
  • Isaiah Hartenstein
  • Alex Caruso
  • 2029 first-round pick
  • 2031 first-round pick

Hartenstein and Caruso provide the contractual beef necessary to balance out Giannis’s massive contract, while Jalen Williams is the prize for Milwaukee, giving the Bucks a young All-Star to build around in the post-Giannis era.

Giving up Williams would sting the Thunder, but the Bucks wouldn't likely entertain OKC on an offer for Giannis that doesn’t include either Williams or Chet Holmgren.

Giannis to the Warriors

The Trade

Warriors receive…

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo

Bucks receive…

  • Jimmy Butler
  • 2029 first-round pick
  • 2031 first-round pick

This is a much worse offer than the OKC trade, given Butler’s age (35) compared to Williams (24). Don’t expect the Bucks to trade Giannis to Golden State unless multiple other offers fall through.

Of course, the Warriors would love it if this happened. Acquiring Giannis would be an epic gift to Stephen Curry as Curry closes out his legendary career over the next few seasons. A Giannis-Curry-Draymond Green core would be seen as serious contenders going into 2025-26.

Giannis to the Rockets

The Trade

Rockets receive…

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo

Bucks receive…

  • Jalen Green
  • Dillon Brooks
  • 2027 first-round pick
  • 2029 first-round pick (via Phoenix Suns)
  • 2031 first-round pick

A Green-Brooks package is borderline insulting for Giannis, hence the three first-round picks attached to the deal. Even so, Milwaukee would probably demand Amen Thompson in any trade for Antetokounmpo, especially if the Bucks already have an OKC offer on the table.

That’s where things would get interesting for Houston — how much do the Rockets really value Thompson?
