With free agency about to start heating up, speculation and rumors soon will result in actual signings.
There have been a few small moves across Major League Baseball this offseason, but nothing too big has happened yet. It has been a boring few weeks but soon enough, players will start to find new homes.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will be very interesting to watch this winter because of the fact that they are looking to add more big pieces, but also have some players who could end up playing elsewhere.
One of the most intriguing members of the Dodgers to watch is All-Star hurler Walker Buehler. He struggled during the regular season after returning from an injury, but looked good in the playoffs. Buehler made roughly $8 million in 2024 and it's really up in the air about what he will get in free agency.
He likely will have to settle for a short-term deal due to the injuries despite being just 30 years old. Buehler already has been linked to a handful of teams, but Bleacher Report's Erik Beaston predicted he will end up re-signing with Los Angeles.
"Walker Buehler had a forgettable 2024 but came through when the Dodgers needed him most, helping guide them to a World Series victory over the New York Yankees," Beaston said."Against the (New York Mets) in the (National League Championship Series) and the Yankees in the Fall Classic, the Dodgers righty allowed no earned runs in 10 innings, struck out 13 and six hits...
"As for Buehler, he has spent his entire career in Los Angeles, and considering how important he was to the team in his final two appearances of the season, it only feels right that he would return for another season in Dodger blue. Prediction: Buehler returns to the world champs"
It would be sad to lose Buehler. Los Angeles easily could bring him back on a cheap deal and there's a chance he could return to All-Star form with another year under his belt removed form his injury. Why not reunite?
