The North Carolina Tar Heels football program was all set to be featured in HBO's Hard Knocks, until they weren't. With Bill Belichick as the head coach of the program, there have been plenty of headlines in Chapel Hill.

Well, Hard Knocks changed course recently, and reports stated that Belichick's 24-year-old girlfriend Jordan Hudson was "instrumental" in the decision.

Hudson was "allegedly picky" during a recent CBS interview that went viral, so there are some big concerns about the way things are going as of now.

Former Patriots linebacker Ted Johnson, who played for Belichick in New England, was not shy of requesting North Carolina to make a drastic move and fire Belichick. He shared that thought during an episode of "Three Point Stance" on WEEI

“I say all that to say this: that I think the UNC Tar Heels should consider firing Bill Belichick. That they should consider letting him go at this point," Johnson stated. "It’s a lot of money and they’re deep into, obviously, their preparation for next year. But I look at Bill Belichick and I wonder if he’s fit to coach an NFL team, let alone fit to coach a college team. Which, again, I put more onus on the character and personality and just overall character, if you will, of a college coach than I do a pro coach."

Moreover, Johnson said he doesn't think Belichick is a college coach: "And so I’m worried that Bill Belichick just isn’t fit to coach college kids and UNC should consider cutting ties with Bill Belichick.”

Johnson went even further, saying he doesn't think Belichick is "of sound mind."

“And so to me, those are bad decisions that make him and the university look really bad, and question whether or not he is of sound mind and should be running a football team at the University of North Carolina. I think it's just something you have to really, really consider. Just question the decision-making from the head coach at this point for those reasons.”

Now, North Carolina reportedly gave Belichick a five-year contract worth $10 million per year, so pulling the plug before even one game would be a costly one. But, the way things are going are not very encouraging in Chapel Hill, especially for somebody they thought would bring a major facelift to the program.

Belichick also released a statement on Wednesday regarding the interview, so this drama continues to churn by the hour.

Only time will tell, but Johnson - who has experience with Belichick - didn't hesitate to request North Carolina to move on before it gets worse.
