Shedeur Sanders has finally been selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Cleveland Browns traded up to the No.144 overall pick in Round 5 to select Sanders and add him to their crowded quarterback room.
The Browns sent the No.166 and No.192 overall picks to the Seattle Seahawks for pick 144, which was used on Sanders.
Cleveland has taken two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, as the team also grabbed Oregon signal-caller Dillon Gabriel in the third round on Friday.
Sanders was a projected first-round pick before the draft, and his slide has turned into one of the most intriguing storylines in NFL draft history. The 23-year-old now heads to Cleveland, where he could have the chance to compete for the starting spot, as Deshaun Watson may miss the entire 2025 season, and the Browns' quarterback room is still incredibly lackluster.
Though he fell far, Sanders is still expressing gratitude for being selected by the Browns, as he took to X and thanked God for the opportunity.
"Thank you GOD," Sanders wrote on X after being drafted by the Browns in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Sanders landing in Cleveland could be ideal for him, as the Colorado product will have to compete for a roster spot and it should bring the best out of him. Sanders could win the starting job for the Browns, and there's a chance general manager Andrew Barry and head coach Kevin Stefanski just got the steal of the draft.
