The New York Yankees still need pitching help.

Clarke Schmidt's return this week was a boost, and Max Fried has been great, but the Bronx Bombers are otherwise still shorthanded on the mound.

They might have a solution that involves calling the team that beat them in the 2024 World Series.

Newsweek's Noah Camras says the Yankees should go after Dodgers righty Tony Gonsolin.

Gonsolin is nearly complete with a rehab assignment at Triple-A.

The right-hander was a 2022 All-Star, and he has a career 3.19 ERA.

Gonsolin missed the entire 2024 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

The cost on Gonsolin would presumably be a lot less than it would be for someone like Sandy Alcantara, who is the most popular name in pitching trade rumors in the early part of this season.

The Dodgers are also getting Clayton Kershaw back from injury soon, so Gonsolin might be surplus to requirements in Los Angeles.

In New York, though, he'd be one of the Yankees' most important players.

It's a solid idea, one that the Yankees should really pursue as long as they are confident in Gonsolin's medical records.
