The Washington Commanders have had an impressive 2024 campaign, with a record of 8-5 following their Week 14 bye.
They'll be looking to take the next step forward in 2025, which likely means improving rookie QB Jayden Daniels' array of receiving threats.
Currently, WR Terry McLaurin is Washington's only pass-catcher who is considered a high-quality starter. One way for Washington to solve that could be through the draft, where Bleacher Report has predicted the Commanders to select Penn State tight end Tyler Warren in the first round.
Writes B/R's Damian Parson, "Warren is a talented pass-catcher who is handling the role as (Penn State's) top offensive option." This season, Warren has caught 88 passes for 1,062 yards and six touchdowns while additionally accounting for 191 rushing yards and four additional scores.
The Commanders currently feature veteran Zach Ertz as their starting TE, but Ertz is on a one-year deal and may not return. Washington could use a long-term answer at the position, and Warren is considered among the top players at his position in the class.
Given the success of young tight ends such as Brock Bowers and Sam LaPorta, it's reasonable to think Warren could make an immediate impact with the Commanders. He would likely be the No. 2 option right off the bat, behind only McLaurin.
The Commanders could also look to established veterans in free agency or on the trade market to address their lack of weapons, but bringing in fresh young talent to develop is never a bad option. Expect Warren to be circled on Washington's draft board next April.
