The Milwaukee Bucks seen their 2024-25 NBA season end with a 119-118 loss to the Indiana Pacers. This marks the third consecutive season that Milwaukee was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
Due to another first round exit, ESPN's Shams Charania reports the Bucks and their star Giannis Antetokounmpo are scheduled to meet to discuss the franchise's future.
"The Bucks and Antetokounmpo are scheduled to meet after the season to discuss both his future and the future plans for the team. It's an annual meeting between the two sides, but one that carries a different tone heading into the summer after the Bucks failed to win a playoff series even with their star putting up a dominant performance," Charania reported.
With his name being surrounded by trade rumors, Antetokounmpo has made it clear he wants to compete for championships. Although he does have one title, the talent around the Bucks superstar has been depleted since winning it all in 2021. In fact, Milwaukee has only won one playoff series since 2021. This also marks two years in a row the Bucks were eliminated in the first round by Indiana.
Injuries have played a pivotal role in hindering the success in Milwaukee. They traded away Khris Middleton to the Washington Wizards, who wasn't quite the same player after returning from his MCL injury a couple seasons ago. Antetokounmpo has had his fair share of injuries, including his strained calf last season that kept him out for the playoffs. This postseason, the Bucks lost their co-star in Damian Lillard to his torn Achilles.
As the team attempts to get back to where they were just a few seasons ago, this offseason meeting between Antetokounmpo could determine what the future holds for the franchise. Trade rumors have been circulating, and frustration has been building within the organization and their fanbase.
