He's won the other three majors before, but thus far, a green jacket has eluded him, despite multiple strong chances to get it done at Augusta.

Rory McIlroy's best finishes at the Masters

McIlroy's best Masters finish came in 2022, when he was tournament runner-up. That year, he closed with an 8-under to come from out of nowhere and finish three shots back of Scottie Scheffler.

He was also fourth in 2015.

McIlroy has finished in the top-10 in seven of his 16 Masters appearances.

McIlroy's Masters career can't be told without his 2011 collapse.

The 21-year old jumped out to a first-round lead and held it with solid second and third rounds.

Heading to Sunday, McIlroy led by four shots.

Then he collapsed. An 8-over 80 meant McIlroy ended up tied for 15th in a tournament won by Charl Schwartzel.

How many players have a career grand slam?

Five golfers have won a career grand slam.

They are Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.

Bobby Jones won the original grand slam, which included the U.S. Amateur, the U.S. Open, The Open Championship and the British Amateur.
