The Boston Celtics are set for action, and so is the reigning Finals MVP.
As the Celtics begin their title defense, the health of star guard Jaylen Brown has been a question mark. Brown was arguably the Celtics’ best player throughout the team’s run to the NBA title in 2024 and will need to be at his best for the team to repeat.
Brown has dealt with a knee injury over the past few weeks and has even received injections to play through the ailment. However, with the playoffs around the corner, Brown has no interest in the talk surrounding his injury.
“I’m not here to talk about my knee,” Brown said. “It is what it is. I’m focused on Orlando.”
ESPN’s Marc Spears also reported that Brown said he is not on a minutes restriction. That is welcome news for the Celtics, who will tip off their playoff run on Sunday afternoon against the Orlando Magic.
As the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, expectations are high for the Celtics, who are among the favorites to win the title. Anything short of a conference finals appearance would be an immense disappointment, but Brown will likely need to be at the top of his game for the Celtics to advance further, especially if they face the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers.

This season, Brown has averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists while playing in 63 games. While he isn’t eligible for any awards this season, he is undeniably an All-NBA talent and was named an All-Star for the fourth time in his career.
Alongside Jayson Tatum, the two form a star duo that seems nearly unbeatable in a playoff setting. As long as Brown can get his knee anywhere near 100% during this playoff run, the Celtics and their star should be in good shape.
