Times Square fight weather updates: Will rain in NYC forecast cancel Ryan Garcia's boxing card? image

Boxing history is set to be made on Friday, May 2. Rather than headline an event at Madison Square Garden or the nearby Barclays Center, Ryan Garcia and Rolly Romero are taking their fight to the streets. 

Ring Magazine will be hosting 'Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves' to the streets of Times Square. There will be a three-fight card hosted in a boxing ring in the heart of Manhattan. The event will be streamed exclusively on DAZN and is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. ET. Fans will not only need a DAZN account to watch the fight but will also need to pay the U.S. PPV price of $59.99. 

While the historic event decided to roll the dice with having an outdoor event, they may be faced with trying to come up with some last minute pivots for inclement weather.

9:30 a.m. -- The boxing ring does have a roof over it, so if it rains with little wind, they should be fine. If it thunderstorms, as is projected later in the night, they haven't announced what the plans are to either re-locate indoors or simply wait it out.

The weather forecast for Manhattan doesn't look great on AccuWeather. The forecast for the day is "a t-storm late this afternoon with a thunderstorm in spots at night."

The boxing card is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. ET. There are three fights total on the card, and the timing is subject to change with fights ending early or going all of the scheduled rounds. For now, the ring walk for Garcia and Romero's headliner is expected to start at 8 p.m. ET.
