This year's "Dancing with the Stars" athlete contestants scored all across the board last Tuesday for their "Dedication Night" performances.
Former Patriots receiver Danny Amendola was awarded the highest score of the night for his contemporary number honoring late NFL and college coach Mike Leach, while NBA retiree Dwight Howard bottomed out with the only score below 30 points for his rumba, dedicated to his five kids.
This week, Amendola, Howard, rugby star Ilona Maher and gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik looked to make it through one more evening. This time, the theme was "Disney Night," which saw each remaining pair dance to a different song from a classic Disney film.

Additionally, Episode 6 marked the return of team dances along with individual routines. All competitors and their partners were split into two groups which faced off for extra points. Captains for each team are usually determined by the two dancers with the lowest scores from the previous week — in this case, that wound up being Howard and Maher.
After drafting their pairs, each group performed a unique number to another Disney tune. Then, the panel of judges rated the dances with each star receiving the same score to be combined with their individual scores from the night.
On Tuesday night, Amendola and Maher danced jazz numbers to "Bye Bye Bye" by NSYNC from "Deadpool & Wolverine" (2024) and "Surface Pressure" by Jessica Darrow from "Encanto" (2021), respectively. Howard tangoed to "When Can I See You Again" by Owl City from "Wreck-It Ralph" (2012), while Nedoroscik did the Charleston to "A Star is Born" by Jocelyn Brown from "Hercules" (1997).
Here's everything to know about 2024 Dancing with the Stars Episode 6, including updated scores for Maher, Amendola and more.

How does Dancing with the Stars scoring work?
The show's scoring is divided into two categories: judges and audience. During the episode, the three judges each give the dancers a score from 1 to 10.
This season, Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli return as judges. Before the audience votes, the judges give the dancers a maximum of 30 points. There are some guest judge appearances and their votes are also out of 10. When a guest judge is included, the maximum points goes up to 40.
This is where the scoring can get confusing. It isn't exactly the number of points a dance gets, but how that number relates to the total number of votes the judges gave out. Let's say the judges give out 100 points throughout the round; dancer A gets 10 and dancer B gets 20. Before audience votes are tallied, dancer A will have 10 percent of the judge's vote and dancer B will have 20 percent.
Let's say dancer A got 35 percent of the public vote, while dancer B only got 5 percent. Dancer A's final score would be 45 percent of the vote and dancer B would have gotten 40 percent. In this example, dancer A would move on and dancer B would be eliminated.
Scoring is the percentage of the judges' votes added to the percentage of the audience's votes for a total score.
