Pirates' Tommy Pham suspended after obscene gesture towards fan image

Pittsburgh Pirates veteran outfielder Tommy Pham never fails to make headlines. Earlier in the week, Pham was caught making an obscene gesture towards a fan at Angel Stadium.

The incident took place after the fan touched Pham while he was fielding a ball in left field, something the Pirates outfielder clearly was not happy about.

Well, the MLB has stepped in and suspended Pham for one game with fines, per Athletics reporter Jessica Kleinschmidt

"Tommy Pham received a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his “inappropriate actions towards fans” during Wednesday night’s game. He’s elected to appeal."

Suspensions are nothing new for Pham. In 2022, he was infamously suspended for slapping Joc Pederson over a debate regarding a fantasy football league

He has also been at the center of plenty of other controversial moments, including being stabbed at a San Diego nightclub and getting into altercations last year as a member of the Chicago White Sox.

Now, he is suspended for one game, although he has decided to appeal the suspension. The Pirates begin a three-game series on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
