Wednesday has some excellent pitching matchups across the major leagues, with many of the best pitchers in baseball facing off. The Braves have a doubleheader against the Cardinals, while the Yankees and Mets go head-to-head for a night game in the latest installment of the Subway Series.
Great pitchers like Ranger Suarez, Reynaldo Lopez, Luis Gil, Gavin Stone and more are going. A great way to get in on the MLB betting action today and take advantage of low-scoring games with great pitching matchups is to bet on NRFIs — No Run First Inning wagers.
You are betting that neither team will score a run in the first inning — if both starting pitchers give up no runs in the first, you win. NRFIs have become one of the most popular bets in baseball over the past few seasons.
Let's take a look at the full slate of MLB games today and offer our favorite NRFI picks for Wednesday, June 26, at the best U.S. sportsbooks.

MLB NRFI picks for Wednesday, June 26
Subway Series: New York Yankees vs. New York Mets (FanDuel NRFI odds -104)
The Subway Series between the Mets and Yankees has an excellent pitching matchup on tap this Wednesday. The Yankees put Luis Gil on the mound, and the 26-year-old has been realizing his potential for the Yankees this season with a 2.77 ERA, 97 strikeouts in 81.1 innings pitched, and a 9-2 record. Gil has been especially strong early in games, having only allowed a first-inning run once in his previous six starts.
The Mets go to Sean Manaea, and the veteran left-hander has been solid this season. His 4.16 ERA is nothing to write home about, but he has been strong early in his outings. Manaea has allowed a first-inning run only once over his last 11 starts.
Cleveland Guardians vs. Baltimore Orioles (NRFI odds +100)
The Guardians and Orioles face off Wednesday as two of the best teams in the American League. Carlos Carrasco is on the bump for Cleveland, and he has been up and down for much of the season. He has a 5.40 ERA and has struggled later in games to get out of jams, averaging well under a strikeout per inning. Carrasco has started games well, though. He has made eight consecutive appearances without allowing a first-inning run.
The Orioles give the baseball to Grayson Rodriguez, who, outside of two starts, has been excellent this season. He is 8-3 with a 3.82 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP, and he has struck out 85 batters in 75.1 innings pitched. Rodriguez has not allowed a first-inning run in seven of his 13 starts.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Chicago White Sox (NRFI odds -113)
The Dodgers Gavin Stone will toe the rubber against one of the MLB's worst teams, the Chicago White Sox. Stone has been fantastic this season with a 3.04 ERA, an 8-2 record, and a 1.20 WHIP. Most importantly, Stone has shut down opponents early and is on an eight-game streak without allowing a first-inning run.
The White Sox put Erick Fedde on the mound, and he has been one of the lone bright spots for Chicago this season. He has a 3.05 ERA, and he has only allowed a first-inning run once in his last 11 pitching appearances.
NRFI pick of the day: Atlanta Braves vs. St. Louis Cardinals Game 1 (NRFI odds -115)
The Braves and Cardinals are scheduled for a doubleheader on Wednesday, and the first game will have one of the best pitching matchups of the day. Reynaldo Lopez is having a career year for the Braves, boasting a 1.57 ERA, 76 strikeouts, a 1.08 WHIP, and a 5-2 record. He has not allowed a run in his last two outings and has not allowed a first-inning run in any of his 13 starts this season. He is one of the few starters with over ten starts in the MLB this season while having yet to allow a first-inning run.
St. Louis counters with Kyle Gibson, who had a rough beginning of the season but has been pitching much better of late. He is coming off his best start of the season, going seven innings without allowing any runs against the Cubs while striking out six and walking just one. Gibson has been strong early in his starts, only allowing one first-inning run over his last seven starts.
