Should the New York Mets be concerned after blowing a six-run lead against the Washington Nationals on Sunday? Perhaps, but it's far too early for the Mets to panic, as this team has played excellent baseball throughout the early parts of the campaign, sitting in first place in the National League East with a somewhat sizeable four-game lead.
8-2 over there last 10 games, the Mets have played well, but they would’ve liked to win that series against the Nationals. At best, the Mets can split with them, with game four on Monday afternoon.
After the loss, Carlos Mendoza made an announcement on the pitching staff, saying that it was frustrating to be up 7-1 and lose the game.
Despite some frustration, he understands that this is baseball, and blown leads are a natural part of the game. All the Mets can do is turn the page and hope things don't continue for them moving forward.
“To be there 7-1 and let that go away, it’s a tough one," he said, per the team. "Turn the page and get ready for tomorrow.”

Tylor MeGill threw the baseball at a high level during his start, tossing 6.1 innings, allowing three earned runs with nine strikeouts. However, Jose Butto relieved him, throwing 0.2 innings and allowing three earned runs.
The Mets then gave up an earned run in the bottom of the 9th from Ryne Stanek, who allowed an unearned run, too.
If anything, this should make the Mets understand that their pitching staff might not be as good as it has performed throughout the early parts of the year. With multiple assets to move on from, the Mets should be more than fine in finding potential arms at the deadline.
