Anthony Rizzo is still a free agent.

It's a bit confusing, all things considered, but it's true. After playing in the World Series for the Yankees in 2024, Rizzo can't find a job in 2025.

His main goal, if he can find an opportunity, would be to join a winner.

There's one team that needs a first baseman that is being urged by SI's Nick Ziegler to go get Rizzo. That's the San Francisco Giants.

The Giants are relying on Lamonte Wade at first base, and he's underwhelmed this season.

Rizzo wasn't great in 2024. He only hit eight home runs in 92 games and had an on-base percentage of .301.

"Even though it’s not a massive upgrade, a veteran like Rizzo could help propel the Giants into the postseason," Ziegler writes. "The slugger has a plethora of experience playing in the playoffs, and could be a great leader in the clubhouse in addition to potentially being an upgrade at first base."

Rizzo made $16 million last season, but he has to be well aware that at his current status, he'll likely have to settle for whatever is out there, if he indeed wants to keep playing.

Maybe that team that links up with Rizzo will indeed be San Francisco for a nice west-coast swing late in his MLB career.
