Carolina Hurricanes betting trends
Carolina jumped out to a fast start, scoring 95 seconds into Game 1. The early goal by Evgeny Kuznetsov hinted at a runaway, but the Hurricanes were actually outshot by the Islanders 21-13 in the first two periods.
Goaltender Frederik Andersen, who ended the regular season with a 13-0-2 record, helped make sure the Canes never trailed with 33 saves.
Carolina is now 13-4 SU in its last 17 playoff games at PNC Arena. The Hurricanes entered the postseason with the NHL's second-best power play. The 'Canes scored their 68th goal with the man advantage when Kuznetsov tallied early.
Sebastian Aho, who had a team-high 36 goals and 89 points in the regular season, was held without a point in the opener.

New York Islanders betting trends
The Islanders have the worst penalty kill in the NHL, and they'll need to stay out of the box early and often in Game 2. Carolina's special-teams advantages are glaring, and part of the reason why the 'Canes are such a big favorite in the series.
Expect the Isles to start Ilya Sorokin in net tonight. Backup Semyon Varlamov didn't play bad in the opener, making 23 saves and yielding two goals before Carolina scored an empty netter.
Patrick Roy's team needs a split before this series heads to Long Island, but Carolina has been extremely difficult to beat on home ice in the playoffs.
We expect a spirited effort from the Islanders, who outshot the Hurricanes 34-26 in the opener. At even strength, Carolina owned a slim advantage in high danger chances at 8-7.
