In recent history, the WWE likes to use the turning of the calendar to turn the page on their storylines. Many wrestlers will see their arcs transformed starting at the beginning of the year. One such recent example is Oba Femi, who joined NXT to start 2023, lost most of his matches, then went on an insane winning streak starting in January 2024, and becoming the new NXT champion in January 2025.
So far this year, there have already been several title changes across the three promotions and if the bookings and writers are doing their job, Saturday will see another one take place. There are two titles at stake on the second edition of Saturday Night's Main Event. Gunther will defend the World title against Jey Uso, and Bron Breakker will defend the Intercontinental Title against Sheamus. It's the latter that we're focused on for this prediction.

Match Prediction
Predicted match length: 20 minutes
Breakker and Sheamus are having a rematch following their triple-threat match from Survivor Series: War Games. Breakker defeated Sheamus and Ludwig Kaiser, and has already defeated Kaiser in their one-on-one rematch. Now it's Sheamus' turn and there's a couple reasons for things to turn out in his favor this time. For one, this is the third match in three months, with Breakker also beating Sheamus earlier in November.
Sheamus is no stranger to holding gold. He's a four-time World Champion, a three-time US Champion and a five-time tag-team champion. He's won King of the Ring and Money in the Bank. The only hole in his resume that's keeping him from being a Grand Slam champion is that he's never won the Intercontinental belt.
World titles don't change hands on SNME, at least not when it was a thing back in the 1980s, but there were a couple of occasions when middle titles were won. Breakker has only been in big brands for a little over half a year, and he's already a two-time champion.
Besides, Breakker is more than ready to assume the mantle of Monday Night Raw's top dog. Gunther's reign has been boring for the most part, and Breakker can definitely hold his own in the ring and on the mic.
How would he get there? By winning the Royal Rumble and getting the automatic qualifier for the Wrestlemania. We predict that Breakker, after losing the Sheamus, joins the Royal Rumble field.
