The Philadelphia 76ers are starved for success, as franchise cornerstone Joel Embiid is not getting any younger or healthier, and their time to win in 'The Process' era is running low.
That's why the 76ers signed All-Star forward Paul George to a lucrative contract last offseason, but unfortunately, the deal did not pan out well in year one. He averaged disappointing numbers across the board, which could lead Philadelphia's front office to at least explore his trade value this summer.
Another Eastern Conference team running out of time to win with the face of their franchise is the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks lost in the first round of the postseason for the third straight season in 2025, meaning Giannis Antetokounmpo could request a trade.
Because of these factors, a group of NBA writers from The Athletic came up with a bold trade proposal that would send Antetokounmpo to Philadelphia. The full hypothetical trade details are as follows:
76ers receive: Giannis Antetokounmpo
Bucks receive: Paul George, Jared McCain, 2025 first, 2028 first (via LA Clippers), 2029 pick swap (via LA Clippers), 2030 first

"Obviously, taking back George is a tough proposition, but this is a trade proposal rich in assets, beginning with the 2025 first-round pick, which would land in the top six if Philadelphia keeps control. McCain is a terrific young prospect who would immediately give Milwaukee two young players to build off," The Athletic's Tony Jones wrote.
Antetokounmpo is incredibly used to playing in a system schemed around him, which would not entirely be the case in Philadelphia. Coach Nick Nurse or whoever is calling the shots for the Sixers would likely split the looks between Antetokounmpo and Embiid while encouraging star guard Tyrese Maxey to take on a greater playmaking role in the offense.
It's worth noting this proposed blockbuster move from The Athletic is far from realistic, but certainly not off the table given the circumstances both organizations find themselves in.
