The Detroit Lions traded up into the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft to select LSU offensive lineman Miles Frazier. Detroit sent the picks 182 and 228 to the New England Patriots for the No.171 overall pick, which was used on Frazier.
Frazier is an experienced player who started over 50 games in college and has the versatility to play both guard positions. The 23-year-old allowed zero sacks and 13 quarterback pressures during his final season at LSU in 2024.
Detroit already selected a guard in Georgia's Tate Ratledge in Round 2, but experts seem to love that the Lions took another player at the position just a few rounds later.
Lions draft grades for Miles Frazier
Ostly: "Frazier was expected by many to be a top-100 pick and the Lions get great value with him at the end of Round 5. His attitude and play strength are a great fit for the Lions' culture on the offensive line. He needs to improve his consistency but he's in the right place to do that. The Lions get a slight ding because they took another interior offensive lineman in Round 2."
Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski: A
Sobleski: "Once again, the Detroit Lions know what they like. LSU’s Miles Frazier is exactly what they like, because he’s another physical and versatile blocker to create even more quality depth along an elite offensive line. While Frazier is best-suited at guard, he does bring starting experience at both guard and tackle spots. His journey may have not been a straight and obvious path, but Frazier arrived at the same destination because he earned the right to get there."
