Friday night feels strange after four games on Thursday night. It did not help that the Edmonton-Los Angeles game ended after Midnight on the East Coast. At least Winnipeg and St. Louis are on earlier at 8:00 pm ET.
Friday offers this game, and this game only on the NHL Playoff calendar.
Jets vs. Blues Odds, Picks and Predictions
Click here to get 10 double-your-winnings boosts from Caesars Sportsbook. The Winnipeg Jets are banged up without two key players for Game 6. Nikolaj Ehlers remains out, and now Mark Scheifele is as well. With the home teams enjoying a considerable advantage in this series, it feels like St. Louis has been barely threatened on home ice. One of their best players has been Colton Parayko.
Parayko scored 10 goals last year but 16 this season in only 64 games. He would have easily topped 20 tallies and 40 points if not for an injury. He does not play much on the man advantage, but he is a factor everywhere else. The Blues’ defenseman averages right around 2.5 blocks per game.
Now, the over of 2.5 stands at +120. He has seven in the past two contests. Add in three assists, and the point prop may be an option. At +165, another helper or a goal on the menu makes for another betting choice.
The numbers are intriguing for Friday night. The usual goalie props are out there, and if someone slid that Mackenzie Blackwood Under 22.5 saves in last night, things worked out by a stat correction. Neither team has faced a ton of shots in this series, which makes the saves one maybe to stay away from.
However, would a shutout happen? Both teams are now +650 via DraftKings. Kyle Connor is at +135 to score anytime, but Gabriel Villardi just returned after missing over a month due to injury. The hope was that the number would move.
Picks: Colton Parayko Over 2.5 Blocks (+120) via DraftKings
Colton Parayko Over 0.5 Points (+165) via DraftKings
Winnipeg Jets vs St. Louis Blues Game Predictions
Naturally, home teams are reigning supreme in this series. Some sportsbooks keep inching Winnipeg closer in this matchup, and some numbers around even have popped up. That is not a surprise. The pressure mounts, and the prevailing thought is that Winnipeg is more suited to handle the adversity.
As tempting as the home win in regulation is, there is the idea of looking to the spread. Four of the five games in this first-round series have been decided by two or more goals. Add in that St. Louis is not missing two top-six players at the moment, and the Blues enjoy more than just a home-ice advantage.
Also, remember that St. Louis plays at a different gear at home. Combine that with Connor Hellebuyck and Winnipeg yielding 12 goals in two games away from home. Suddenly, the spread looks even better.
Best Wager: St. Louis Blues -1.5 goals (+220 via BetMGM)
Winnipeg Jets vs. St. Louis Blues Long Shot Bets
The only Friday night game in town leads us to some longer shots. Maybe another Pavel Buchnevich hat trick is not in the cards, but could someone from St. Louis notch 2+ goals instead?
Both teams can get more shots on net, but play it too close to the vest. Jordan Kyrou is a game-breaker and can score at least once, if not twice. He has two goals in this series and is +1400 to score twice on Friday via FanDuel. While looking at this, there is the home team's first goal scored at +600.
If that was not enough, his anytime goal stands at +200. With this many choices, let us pick the one in the middle for Friday night.
Pick: Jordan Kyrou first home goal scored (+600 via FanDuel)
