Brock Purdy is trending toward getting paid.
He might be on his way to a six-year deal worth $300 million.
The San Francisco 49ers don't have much choice but to pay him the bag to ensure they keep their quarterback.
But there's a bit of reason for nervousness in the Bay Area.
Yahoo Sports addressed it in a recent article with a simple summary sentence:
"There's also anxiety about whether Brock Purdy can succeed without the same level of skill-position talent he's had the past couple of years."

Deebo Samuel is gone. Brandon Aiyuk is hurting. George Kittle is aging. Christian McCaffrey always seems to be hurting. Jordan Mason is traded away.
Purdy's weapons aren't entirely gone, but he doesn't quite have the same cast to work with.
Everyone assumed early in his career that Purdy was just a system QB, that Mr. Irrelevant couldn't become a franchise quarterback.
This will be his chance to prove the doubters wrong.
But it's also a great chance for the doubters to turn out to be right.
San Francisco is certainly hoping that its contract is followed by Purdy showing he's worth it. Because that's a lot of money to be wrong with.
No wonder they're anxious.
