In the days following the 2025 NFL draft, which wrapped up last weekend, experts have weighed in on the Washington Commanders' picks, pointing out both the best and worst selections.

Matt Galatzan of Newsweek is the latest to share his thoughts on Washington's draft class and he picked both the best and worst selections of the Commanders' draft, which only included five players.

For the best pick, Galatzan chose Mississippi cornerback and second-round pick, Trey Amos, who addressed a key need in the secondary for Washington. Here's Galatzan's thoughts on that selection.

"Trey Amos is a seasoned SEC corner who comes in at a position of need with great value at his selection in Round 2. He could have very easily been a first-round pick," he wrote.

For the worst pick, Galatzan chooses Arizona running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who was taken in the seventh round. However, Galatzan admits he's probably nit-picking a bit with this one given Washington's small draft class.

"This is another nitpicky choice, given the Commanders only had five picks, but they took a flyer on Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who will likely not see the field in 2025," he explained. "He only played in one game last season and was not invited to the combine, so his actual impact is still a mystery."

Hard to argue with Galatzan's reasoning for not liking the Croskey-Merritt pick, but in the grand scheme of things it's really much ado about nothing. Whether it was Croskey-Merritt or someone else, seventh-round picks rarely pan out. In fact, Galatzan choosing the seventh-rounder can actually be seen as a compliment

That pick was vastly outweighed by the selection of Amos, who will, at the very least, provide some depth in Year 1. However, it's not outlandish to think Amos could work his way into a starting role as the season progresses.
