The Denver Broncos could still be looking for more weaponry at the running back position and if there is an opportunity to get a player who was once a first-round pick for next to nothing, the team would probably be willing to take a look.
Daniel Arwas of Athlon Sports presented a proposal in which the Broncos could take Travis Etienne off the hands of the Jacksonville Jaguars. A first-round pick in 2021, Etienne's numbers took a big dip in Jacksonville last season and he will be entering the final year of his rookie deal.
Arwas predicts that the Broncos would get Etienne and a seventh-round pick in 2027 in exchange for a sixth-round pick. That is the definition of a low-risk, high-reward deal, at least on paper.
"When used primarily as a third down back, Etienne can have substantial use; limiting his touches of the ball and exploiting his great speed and solid route running abilities.
He would also be an excellent veteran figure to lead a room that is spearheaded by players that have no more than two years experience in the NFL", wrote Arwas.
Etienne is only 26 years old but he is coming off a season in which he rushed for 558 yards and two touchdowns after going for 2,133 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2022 and 2023. The Jaguars will be ushering in the Liam Coen era and after using a fourth-round pick on Virginia Tech running back Bhayshul Tuten as well as a seventh-round choice on LeQuint Allen out of Syracuse, the Jags could be looking to use those two rookies along with Tank Bigsby to create a brand new backfield with Etienne as the odd man out.

The Broncos could add Etienne to their running back room and have him come in as a player who can also help out in the passing game as he does have 93 career receptions.
The Broncos selected Central Florida standout R.J. Harvey in the second round of the draft, a move that coincidentally irked the Jaguars, but the team could still use a veteran such as Etienne. If the Jaguars would agree to this hypothetical trade, it could make a lot of sense for both teams.
